SCREENING OF NEW IMMIGRATION FILM TO BENEFIT CHIRLA

Los Angeles, CA (November 12, 2007)— Camborne Productions is pleased to announce the first screening of the new immigration documentary Beyond Borders: The Debate Over Human Migration. The screening, a benefit for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA ), will take place this Thursday November 15, at the Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills, CA.

CHIRLA Executive Director Angelica Salas is featured in the documentary and will participate in a panel discussion with the filmmakers immediately following the screening. Executive Producer Simon Burrow is “pleased that the first screening of Beyond Borders will benefit this important organization,” and praised CHIRLA’s activism on behalf of Los Angeles’ large immigrant community. Burrow is the founder of Radical Immigration, an organization dedicated to creating a world where responsible people have the right to live and work wherever they choose. “Partnering with CHIRLA is a natural next step for us,” Burrow said. “We have similar goals to advance the human rights of migrants and refugees.”

Directed by Brian Ging (American Yearbook), the film asks the question: Is there a human right to migrate? Beyond Borders takes a wide-ranging look at the subject of immigration, both from historical and modern perspectives. The current fight over Mexican immigration in the United States is prominently featured, with commentary from humorist Gustavo Arellano (Ask A Mexican), Noam Chomsky, and noted UCLA Chicano Studies professor Abel Valenzuela, among others.

Admission to the screening is free. Guests are asked to make an appropriate donation to CHIRLA to help advance their mission to advocate for the interests of the immigrant community.

More information on the feature-length documentary can be found on the web at www.beyondbordersfilm.com .
