The screening will be followed by a panel discussion/Q&A with Angelica Salas the director of CHIRLA and the filmmakers
This is the first screening of Beyond Borders and it looks like it is going to be a full house.
This is the texk of the promotional email I sent out:
I have spent the last two years helping a couple of brilliant young film makers create Beyond Borders, The Debate over Human Migration. It is finally ready to screen. The film asks the ethical question: Is there a basic human right to migrate? It also explores the cultural and economic realities of the current immigration policies of the United States. You are invited to attend an important first benefit showing of Beyond Borders. On November 15 at 7:30 pm you can have a preview glance at the future of immigration. I think the film is terrific and I'd like you to be one of the first to see it.
Beyond Borders goes beyond the headlines to examine the hot-button issue of immigration from multiple viewpoints. With commentary from Border Patrol agents, foreign aid workers, demographers and experts including Noam Chomsky and Gustavo Arellano (Author of Ask a Mexican), Beyond Borders presents a fair and balanced look at the immigration question and leaves the viewer to decide: Is there a basic human right to migrate?
I hope to see you there.
