In December on the Legal Television Network website Kevin Johnson wrote an article proposing that we open the borders. In the article titled Radical Immigration Reform: Open the Borders he eloquently makes many of the arguments that we support at Radical Migration. He concludes “An open borders system is more consistent with the U.S. Constitution’s devotion to individual rights, the economic interests of the nation, and the social and political forces fueling immigration. Perhaps free labor migration within North America akin to that permitted within the European Union is a good first step. In any event, the nation should realize that border fences and like measures just will not work.” We applaud this sentiment and admire Professor Johnson’s courage for taking this stand publicly.

Kevin R. Johnson is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law at the University of California at Davis
