A new book arguing for more open immigration is now available:

 Let Them In: The Case for Open Borders by Jason L. Riley order it from Amazon.

Riley is an editorial writer for the Wall Streeet Journal and wrote an opinion piece in todays paper making a summary of his argument from the book.  He says that "multiculturalists" are a major obstacle to the public wanting more immigration.  He concludes the WSJ article: "Keep the immigrants.  Deport the Columbia faculty." The editorial and the book are both worth reading.
