Terrorism will increase if we let in new immigrants.”
Terrorists have entered our country as legal immigrants and as illegal immigrants. But that doesn’t mean we should stop immigration. We haven’t stopped making cars because some cars are involved in accidents that kill people.
Immigration flows will happen, governments should regulate the flow and screen the immigrants but trying to stop a normal flow will not work. If the resources of the INS were directed toward screening and away from prevention the ability to identify potential terrorists would increase and the resources to do something about it would be available.
Knowing who is in the country is a critical part of fighting terror. To know who is here we need either draconian barriers and restrictions or policies that meet the needs of all the peoples involved. Like free access with screening and registration requirements for all immigrants.
