Happy Thanksgiving
Written by Simon
Thursday, 27 November 2008

My Thanksgiving wish:

  • The raids and deportations will stop.
  • The fence will rust away.
  • We will welcome responsible people to join us to share the abundance that free people create.
We have to share our abundance and the values that create it.  If we do the blessings of the system created by our founders will continue to grow.  And  we, our children and the newcomers we welcome will prosper.  If we become miserly with our blessings the benefits that accrue to each of us will shrink.   It is the New Testament story of the loaves and the fishes written anew.

Update Governor Napolitano
Written by Simon
Thursday, 27 November 2008

I received this information from This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it in Arizona:

"Janet Napolitano is no threat to anyone in favor of open borders. Yes, when there was sharp focus on the issue she did post some elements of the Arizona National Guard to the border; but they were not charged with doing anything to stem the flow.. The governor reduced funds, by three million dollars, to sheriff Joe Arpiao of Maricopa County to stymie his efforts at immigration enforcement; but with no effect. She is regarded as a good friend of open borders and has done nothing to secure ours, neither is she expected to make any changes at the national level.  She has done nothing to recommend her to her new post ...  She is and has been opposed at every step by right-wing radio."

This is excellent news and I stand corrected. My previous article critical of Governor Napolitano was an extrapolation and was wrong.

Governor Napolitano
Written by Simon
Friday, 21 November 2008
Arizona is the state that is the toughest on undocumented immigrants.  Janet Napolitano is the Governor of Arizona.  Now it appears that she is being nominated to head Homeland Security.  Homeland Security is the agency that oversees the enforcement of immigration laws.  This can't be a good thing for those who want better, more humane treatment of immigrants.  The first priority of the pro-immigrant community that supported candidate Obama was to stop the ICE raids.  By appointing Gov. Napolitano to head Homeland Security he doesn't appear to be a moving in that direction.

Priorities
Written by Simon

According to an interview solving the immigration mess is not a priority for President-elect Obama.
In the interview on CNN he said his first priority was an economic recovery package that would include middle-class tax relief. Second energy; third, health care; fourth, tax restructuring; and fifth, education.
Where is immigration on this list? President Obama "the raids have to stop and the people who live here peacefully without documents have to be given rights."

Bush tried to solve the immigration mess and failed now Obama is saying he is not even going to try. I'm disheartened.
What can we do to make immigration reform a priority for President Obama?

Immigration Causes Prosperity
Written by Simon
Friday, 10 October 2008
An ad placed in the LA Times yesterday by a consortium of anti-immigration groups tries to tie all of the problems of the USA to immigration.  It is written in a way that sounds rational and reasonable but what it espouses is slamming the door on immigration.  I will show in this article that if the restrictionists get their way our prosperity and way of life will suffer.
